The 54th Journées de Statistique will take place from July 3 to 7, 2023 on the Solbosch Campus of the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB).
Organized every year since 1970 by the French Statistical Society (Société Française de Statistique – SFdS), the Journées de Statistique (Days of Statistics) are the most important scientific event in the French-speaking statistical world. Each edition brings together 400 to 500 researchers, teachers and practitioners from many countries and backgrounds.
The mission of the French Statistical Society is to promote the use and understanding of statistics and to foster its methodological development. The Journées de Statistique fully participate in this mission: they are a privileged place of exchange between statisticians from administrations, companies and educational or research institutions, and pay particular attention to young statisticians in order to facilitate their integration into the scientific community.
Since their creation, the Journées de Statistique have been held mainly in France (Lyon 2022, Nice 2021, Nancy 2019, Paris-Saclay 2018, Avignon 2017, …), but also in Canada (Ottawa 2008, Quebec 1996), Morocco (Fez 2000), Switzerland (Neuchâtel 1994, Lausanne 1987) and Tunisia (Tunis 2011). Belgium has already hosted the Journéesde Statistique on four occasions, with the support of the Royal Belgian Statistical Society (Brussels 1982 and 1992, Brussels and Louvain-la-Neuve 2002, Brussels 2012) and is preparing to repeat this experience in 2023.
